For this view at Yosemite National Park, I did not need to hike. My grandparents and I just drove to Glacier Point, down a road that diverted from the one to Yosemite Valley. It’s one of the most jaw-dropping sights in the park — indeed, in the state of California — and one can just drive, park, and then walk a short distance to see it.
To be fair, for this particular composition, I did leave the official path to get a better angle, with the trees framing the scene.
Before revisiting Yosemite, I had worried it wouldn’t feel as impressive as it did my first and only visit in 2010 because other parks I visited since then such as Glacier jaded me. And indeed, Yosemite held less grandeur for me this time around. But I still found it beautiful, and well worth the second visit.
