I took my new Sony 24-70 2.8 GMaster lens out on our first date last night, and the glowing skyline of Rosslyn, reflecting on the Potomac, set quite the romantic mood.
The 24-70 GM is what my Sony A7R II was waiting for. No doubt, the lens is heavier than the old 24-70 f4, but it unleashes the full resolution of the A7R II. And the setup did not feel burdensome in the field, especially in conjunction with the Peak Design Clutch. I’m glad, though, that I use the battery grip with my camera; I imagine a lens the size and weight of the 24-70 GM would feel awkward on just the relatively small body of the A7R II.
